Building Your Catalog

Your catalog is a list of items you’re willing to lend to friends. This guide explains how to add and manage items.

Adding a new item

To add an item to your catalog:

  1. Go to My Catalog from the navigation
  2. Click Add Item
  3. Fill in the item details
  4. Click Save

Item details

When adding an item, you can provide the following information:

Name (required)

A clear, descriptive name for the item. Be specific enough that friends can find it when searching.

Good examples:

  • “16-foot extension ladder”
  • “KitchenAid stand mixer”
  • “4-person camping tent”

Less helpful:

  • “Ladder”
  • “Kitchen stuff”
  • “Tent”

Description

Additional details about the item that might be helpful for borrowers:

  • Brand and model
  • Size or capacity
  • Condition or any wear
  • Accessories included
  • Any quirks or usage tips

Location

Where you keep the item. This helps friends understand logistics before requesting a loan.

Examples:

  • “Garage”
  • “Basement storage”
  • “Kitchen pantry”
  • “Shed in backyard”

Location is visible only to your connections, not the public.

Editing items

To update an item’s details:

  1. Go to My Catalog
  2. Click on the item you want to edit
  3. Click Edit
  4. Make your changes
  5. Click Save

Removing items

If you no longer want to lend an item, you can remove it from your catalog:

  1. Go to My Catalog
  2. Click on the item
  3. Click Edit
  4. Click Delete Item

Note: You cannot delete an item that’s currently on loan. Wait for it to be returned first, or contact the borrower to coordinate.

Tips for a good catalog

  • Be selective — Only list items you’re genuinely comfortable lending
  • Be accurate — Describe condition honestly to set expectations
  • Be specific — Good descriptions help friends find what they need
  • Keep it current — Remove items you no longer have or want to lend
